After the creation of the Madrid Río green axis and the redevelopment of this area of southern Madrid, the Atlético de Madrid Stadium began its demolition in 2018, stripping the city of one of its sports venues par excellence. After being used in hundreds of filming and concerts in recent years, the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium has taken over and is bidding to carve a niche in the hearts of the “atléticos”.
